Ursolic acid (UA, 77-52-1) (3β-hydroxy-urso-12-ene-28-fatty acid) is a pentacyclic triterpene carboxylic acid compound (C30H48O3) that can exist in the free acid form or in the aglycone form of triterpene saponins. Its isomers, oleanolic acid (OA) (3β-hydroxy-oleo-12-ene-28-fatty acid), differ in the degree of methyl substitution but have similar molecular structures and pharmacological activities [1].
