P-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde CAS #100-10-7

Para-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde belongs to the aromatic aldehydes. The molecular structure contains a benzene ring, and the para-position of the benzene ring is connected to a dimethylamido (-N (CH)₂) and an aldehyde group (-CHO).
Chemical properties: It has the typical chemical properties of aldehyde compounds, such as silver mirror reaction, reaction with new copper hydroxide suspension to generate brick red precipitation, etc., which can be oxidized to p-dimethylaminobenzoic acid, and can also be reduced to p-dimethylaminobenthanol under certain conditions. Dimethylamino has a certain ability to give electrons, which can affect the electron cloud density of benzene ring, so that the electrophilic substitution reaction on benzene ring is more likely to occur in the ortho-position and para-position of aldehyde group.
